Designing your Wellness / Meditation Room

Let’s get your self care space ready for

Self Care Sunday!

Designing your Wellness/ Meditation Room

  1. Start with a super soft area rug -

Find one in a soothing palette.  Think soft neutrals, earthy tones, muted blues and sage greens.  Avoid bright colors unless that’s truly your jam!

  2. Keep the Clutter OUT! –

A wellness room needs to feel open and airy and not distracting. It needs to be a place where you can truly be at rest and that means even for your eyes. Your eyes need to rest too so maintain a minimal amount of decorative elements to maintain a sense of tranquility

Did you know some plants are wonderful at cleaning the air in your home making it a healthier space for you?

3. Incorporate Nature –

Nature is healing to the mind body and soul – bring it all in!  Incorporate plants for both aesthetics and for their ability to cleanse the air – Snake plant comes to mind first and foremost.  Include natural elements where possible such as wood or stone in trays, tables and any minimalistic décor.

4. Furnishings –

In addition to a soft area rug you will want a seating area whether chair or sofa so you are able to sit comfortably while journaling or lying down for meditations.  Whichever it is, be sure to use a textile that is soft and soothing to the touch and coordinating with your color scheme of your area rug.  Include soft throw blankets keeping with your color palette.

5. Art -

Second to the area rug (the largest piece of art in your room) you will want to source some art that you find relaxing and calming that continues to repeat the color scheme of your area rug.

6. Lighting –

Lighting can add so much to the feeling of a room. Use dimmable lights, salt lamps and vary between both up and down lighting.  Beeswax or fragrance-free candles of course – stay away from those toxic scented candles. Use an essential oil diffuser to bring in any calming scents your desire.

I hope this helps you and please tag me in your photos of your wellness/ meditation room when you have finished! I’d love to see them!
